In April, we held our Women in Construction Annual Networking Event, at the Kent Town Hotel, which centred around the theme – ‘Female Engagement in the Construction Industry’.
Guest speakers, Senator Marielle Smith, Cameron Baker, Chair of the South Australian Skills Commission, and the Honourable Connie Bonaros MLC gave outstanding presentations regarding the importance of attracting, retaining, and empowering females to work in the construction industry to ultimately create a broader, inclusive, innovative, and more successful workforce.
The panel session that followed, facilitated by NECA SA/NT’s Marketing, Communications and Membership Manager, Jamie Phillips, and the National Fire Industry Association’s State Manager, Stephanie Hansen, featured Cameron Baker, Holly Willcox from CITB South Australia, Emily Quinton from Lendlease, Emma Bradshaw from RNW Fire Services, Elizabeth O’Connor from O’Connors, and Bridget Dunkin from Electro Careers & Apprenticeships, and was extremely informative for the audience, discussing the event’s theme from each panellist’s unique perspective and experience. The conversations amongst these inspiring individuals prompted attendees to consider alternative and different methods that could be considered to prompt female engagement in the industry.
Special thanks goes to our brilliant sponsors: Air Con Serve, Electro Careers & Apprenticeships (Electro CA), Lynch Meyer Lawyers, Mas National, O’Connors, SYC Limited, and Windsor Management Insurance Brokers.
A huge thank you to everyone who attended – it was a fantastic turnout and we hope you all enjoyed yourselves!
