The Specialist Contractors Association (SCA) proudly participated in Meet the Buyer expo at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre.
Organised by the Office of the Industry Advocate, this event sought to connect local businesses with government agencies, which provided valuable insight into government procurement processes.
The event commenced with an official opening from Premier, Peter Malinauskas MP, who provided a detailed report on the scale of future government work in the pipeline, and strongly encouraged local businesses to participate, which is in line with his government’s policy on the usage of South Australian owned and operated businesses. This was followed by speeches from Treasurer, the Honourable Stephen Mullighan MP, Andrew Kay, CEO of the South Australian Business Chamber, and John Chapman OAM, South Australian Industry Advocate. Importantly, John reiterated the Premier’s messaging by providing information on how local business can and should participate in government procurement, and how the Office of the Industry Advocate could assist.
With over 85 stalls and some 1,250 industry representatives in attendance, the event provided a unique platform for networking and the opportunity to showcase the SCA’s mission and capabilities. Larry Moore, Executive Director of NECA SA/NT, Andrew Clarke, CEO of Master Plumbers Association of South Australia, and Michael Hamilton, Executive Manager of Membership and Partnerships at AMCA Australia, represented the SCA at this expo and provided detail on the activities of the association to many interested participants.
Such events are instrumental in fostering connections, exploring future projects, and strengthening South Australia’s building and construction sector.
Thank you to John Chapman and the team at the Office of the Industry Advocate for inviting us along, and for putting together such a brilliant event.
